For example, the archetype of the planet Jupiter is based on the characteristics and actions taken by Jupiter of classic myth. Many asteroids in our solar system are named for other gods and humans. For example, the major asteroids of Ceres, Juno, Pallas, Vesta and Chiron; and minor asteroids named after the gods Apollo, Dionysus and Nike; the humans Ariadne and Psyche who become immortal; and humans like Medusa and Arachne who were punished by the gods:
