Music
Writing and
playing music has played a significant role on my journey in life, so I
thought it fitting to share
some of my songs with you. These songs are
home recordings (and are “not ready for prime time”). Still, I hope
that you will listen to them and feel a bit of the joy I felt writing
and recording them.
Thanks
for listening to “Songs from the Travelers Well”.
P.S. If you
enjoy these songs, feel free to share them and be sure to check back
every now and then for new titles.
Music Room at
Bergland Hotel, Salzburg.
Tell it Unto Me (Play
Song)
- This is a wonderful
traditional Irish song, which means that the lyrics are dreadfully sad.
So, I wrote new lyrics that retell the story of the legends of the Isle
of Avalon, Priestess Morgaine and King Arthur, based on the book The
Mists of Avalon.
Gert's Song
(Play Song)
- Gert was one of the most spiritual people I
have ever met. Each morning she began her day with this prayer: “Om!
Om! Om! Spirit of Life and Light and Love! Let the blessings of health,
happiness and prosperity come to all people in all things!” I remember
her for introducing me to the teachings of the Rosicrucian’s when I was
about twelve years old. When I heard that she had moved on from this
world, memories started pouring out and I sat down and wrote this song.
Thank you, Grandma, you blessed us all.
Andech's
Monk Chant
(Play
Song)
-
Each time Tammy and I travel to Bavaria, Germany, we spend a day at the
Benedictine Andechs Monastery, which is located south of Munich. From
the train station it is a three mile walk up the “holy mountain” to the
monastery. While the monks of the monastery follow the path of devotion
("die Andacht" in German), they also feel it is important to have a
healthy body and happy, soulful life. Hence, the monastery has a
saying, “Genuss für Leib und Seele”, which I have translated (loosely)
to “drink to life, love and soul”. The excellent beer and food combine
with the monastery atmosphere to make for a truly memorable experience.
On a historical note, I think that the Pabst beer Andeker, the best beer
Pabst brewed, was named for the renowned beer brewed by the monks at the
Andechs Monastery.
