As I sat in the Mission at San Juan Capistrano, I was compelled to consider the cyclical nature of life (and of empires).  The sound of the Mission’s fountain drew me to a vision of the triple goddess:  maiden, mother and crone.

Only when the inspiration of youth becomes mature, and then wise, can that vision be passed on to inspire.  Without wisdom, even the greatest of empires can fall away and decay.  Life does not stand still and the cycles of nature constantly remind us of this reality.

The natural wisdom of the swallows guides them to faithfully return to the Mission at San Juan Capistrano each Spring.  Their return announces a new cycle and they are the harbingers of an annual rebirth or renaissance.

When the awareness of the timeless cycles of life are renewed, a Renaissance unfolds to revive our dreams.

Have we heard the swallow’s song and contemplated the meaning of their journey as they fly in harmony with the sun, moon and stars?
